PODCASTS 041 - 50

VISUAL ARTIST - ADMINISTRATOR

ADMINISTRATOR's artworks are much like an extension of its approach to creative pursuits. They are driven by extreme precision, balance, and careful obscurity. These works take the best of the digital space, and contort them to represent the artist's disposition, attempting to illustrate with dynamic range, bold colours, grit, and simple yet captivating lines and shapes.

Promising to push techno as far as it can go, Melissa D'Lima, just like her music, has been rising hard and fast. With a string of podcasts and mixes, club nights at places like Corsica Studios in London, and a belting new release from Rotterdam-based Falsive Records, Melissa is clearly on the cusp of something big. This podcast for INSTASIS is no different, showcasing her raw taste in industrial, hard, and acid sub genres.

DJ ALI from Algharib records is a Melbourne-based techno artist and live DJ. DJ ALI had his first release in December 2018 with fellow label artist Kendojubaki. The release was done with Live from Earth, a Berlin-based record label. Through this release DJ ALI began his run of live shows, solo and with Kendojubaki.

2019 consisted of just live performances, where DJ ALI was able to grow his particular and signature sound. Hard hitting live techno, with fast BPMs and heavy percussions scored DJ ALI a live set in Berghain with Kendojubaki.

Moving forward with 2020 DJ ALI is set out to make his second release and perform more live shows.

Ace Live only started mixing less than a year ago, but let’s rewind << over two decades ago. Ace discovered electronic music at the age of 14 with dance, techno and trance. Along this shenanigans, it was only time before he discovered Hardstyle, Hardcore and Acidcore. Since then, he has always been part of the electronic scene, raves and festivals. Eclectic, Ace drew his inspiration from various styles of music, not limited to electronic genre only. Apart from DJing, Ace has been an aspiring screenwriter and filmmaker. Thus, it is mandatory for him to tell a story in each set he records. Usually more keen to mix as hard as he possibly can to flip your brain Upside down, Ace can deliver from time to time more civilised sets, although it’s not the case here!

A split mind influenced both by galloping rhythms & dreamlike melodies is the basis for Sire’s polyvalent imagination. Standard-bearer for German-Australian label Controlled Violence and spearhead of French label Pomme Sanguine, the composer and DJ is mainly inspired by acid and old school breaks that he complements with electro, trance and ambient references.

It doesn’t matter when I was born or where I live. That information is not important. Art doesn’t need information. It was 2011 when I first dived into the universe of techno, getting to explore all of its subgenres, digging deeply to find the talent hidden within. I’ve always held that there can be no rules in music; everyone simply puts into it their own way of making and feeling it, and then their rhythm becomes what they feel it should be.

In 2017 I started making my own music, a work which remains in constant progress even today, rediscovering, reintroducing, and reconfiguring the context. I’ve worked in collaboration with Survival Alliance Records, Black Zen Records, Underdub Records, Platform 22, Fat Sounds Lab, and more to be confirmed soon.

My main international influences have been Jeff Mills, Mike Parker, Jeroen Search among others. During this year, and since I’ll be collaborating with many labels, I’ve focused on shaping and perfecting my own sound as it evolves, remaining faithful to its characteristic sound of quest.
