Since playing her first show in May 2017, Lara Kills has been cultivating her own style of live, brooding techno. Drawing heavily from the minimal and hypnotic Italian sound, her style has been further enriched by her experience working as a sound engineer around Melbourne, reinforcing her meticulous yet effortless approach to production.

She has notably performed at Barba Party and previous Tech/no/ise nights, and supported international acts such as Norman Nodge and Ray Kajioka, as well as playing a set as part of the 2017 Melbourne Music Week Live Safari. Most recently, Lara featured on the Zeitgeist IV compilation with IF? Records, further honing her skills in the abstract, mesmerising soundscapes that define her.

INSTASIS027 - Sørn

SØRN is a Dutch DJ/producer who first began to rave in the hardcore scene in 2013. After slowly shifting to techno parties, he found his taste gravitating towards old-school material, which of course also began his vinyl collection. Since then, SØRN has released on several Various Artist compilations and released Ep’s on Subsist Records, Parabola Records, Otomo Trax and Gomboc Records. These releases have been supported by the likes of Ben Sims, SLAM and Remco Beekwilder to name a few. He also had the opportunity to play at Nachtcollege in Utrecht, the official after at Club Basis and the ‘breeding ground’ stage of Unpolished by Reaktor. You can expect some serious dance material in his sets as well as some of the artist’s unreleased tracks. Listen closely and you might find some long forgotten tracks from the past.

INSTASIS029 - Consoles

She says it probably began in the mid 80's with the Ultravox 'Vienna' 7" but maybe it was Visage's 'Fade to Grey'. Then it wasn't really until discovering the 'Soundlab' in 03/04 that her true interest in electronic music was really kindled. She apologises for being vague and mumbles something about indie-rock bands, Adelaide and a bad memory.

She says Consoles is music therapy. A communication if you like of how important music can be at the right time, exactly when you need it. It is learning how to hear, think, speak and move again from a more generous and open place as part of a community. But she says it is mostly about techno. And dancing.

She has played parties for Tech/No/Ise, Machine, Lunachicks, When the Smoke Clears, Arteq, Vision of Rhythm, Melbourne Techno Collective, Stable Music, Factoid, Barba and Vinyl Vixens Crews. She has also supported artists, Dimi Angelis and Edit Select.

She is also one of the founders of the annual Adelaide vs MELBOURNE Techno parties.

Since moving to Melbourne five years ago, MTLDA has involved herself in a multitude of projects and events within Melbourne’s electronic music scene. Starting off as a promoter for Melbourne's iconic and soon to be defunct Lounge venue, she slid into DJing on a whim, playing her first nights at Club Lux – a techno-oriented event that begun to hone her taste for the genre.

Since November, 2017 when she first started, MTLDA has shot upwards in popularity, releasing a mix for Burning Rose and Butter Sessions, mixing for Le Fag, Club D’érange, and Lucid, and supporting acts both international and local – from Roza Terenzi to The Black Madonna. While progressively shaping her sound, and playing gigs extensively, she is currently developing a club night alongside Brooke Powers (now Female Wizard): Powertrip.
