INSTASIS Returns

INSTASIS RETURNS to the event space and to Sub Club Melbourne with an all-star cast of budding movers and shakers, here to rock your body after what seems like an eternity away from the dance floor.
We’ve hand picked some of our favourite local artists, each of whom has either played for us or provided a podcast in the past, to help us rein our first post-COVID party, and we could not be more excited to hit Melbourne’s most alluring basement again in February.

Blue Hour
(U.K. / Blue Hour Music)

Scanning the past half-decade of global dance music, few have established themselves as prominently as the UK’s Blue Hour. Triumphantly manning the chariot of pan-European genres – breakbeat, techno, trance, and electronica – Luke Standing [AKA Blue Hour] has used his artistry to sculpt an eclectic, contemporary crevasse in our musical landscape. His steadfast, quasi-futuristic output has enabled him to traverse all aspects of the electronic music community, releasing records on Infrastructure New York, Ostgut Ton, and his own imprint – Blue Hour Music, working alongside a whose-who of legends and budding figures: Function, Dold, Steffi, Hector Oaks, and SuGar, and galvanising dancefloors in Asia, Europe, and finally, Australia. His “lifelong investment and devotion to underground music” has paved Standing’s path, outlining him as a true visionary, and a ruthlessly talented artist. INSTASIS is honoured to present him for the first time to Melbourne’s yearning crowds, for a special 3-hour set.

Opening up the night for Blue Hour for this exclusive Australian Show is Fia Fiell, a solo experimental alias of Carolyn Schofield, who will present a hybrid live/DJ set. Mainly rooted in the rich, glistening realms of down-tempo and ambient music, Schofield has graced stages world-wide - notably at Inner Varnika, Dark Mofo, and venues in Germany and Belgium, released music on Noise In My Head’s Domestic Documents as well as across several EPs and LPs for Nice Music; continuing to refine her artform through a synthesis of the digital and the organic. Following Fia Fiell is 4NG3L4, a unique individual with a firm grounding in doofs and club-nights both here and internationally, having played in Brazil in 2013, and Tresor in 2014. 4NG3L4 is head of the notorious Sydney/Melbourne crew TRENCH, who’ve toured everyone from SHXCXCHCXSH to Dasha Rush, attempting to embody a diverse approach to electronic music with precision, fluidity, and excellent taste.
Finally, representing the INSTASIS bloc, are 2 of its founding members. The Hurricane [FKA Flora Tucker] – returning from a fruitful voyage in Europe having composed future releases for Controlled Violence, and playing shows in Leipzig, will be going back-to-back with close associate ADMINISTRATOR.

INSTASIS x IWTFA
Ness (The Gods Planet)
INSTASIS x IWTFA return for their second collaboration with: Ness.
Ness is a DJ and producer born and raised in Sardinia, acknowledged for his style over a decade of music with a background in sound engineering and many years of research and fine-tuning. He gradually developed a distinct technique with a strong focus on atmosphere combined with hypnotic rhythms. Having performed in some of the most relevant clubs and festivals around the globe, he steadily releases music and collaborates with several renowned techno labels within the scene. With experience as label manager through the years with partnership on Mono Records and The Gods Planet, he later established his spin off project label Ness Reworks in 2018. Ness' music and DJ sets are well accepted and defined as an exploration of wide range of deep hypnotic techno and ambient soundscapes.

The latest in a series of successful collaborations, INSTASIS & IWTFA are proud present one of the most cutting-edge, innovative, and powerful acts on the world stage today: Kas:st for a 3hr exclusive set.
Their masterfully produced, emotive, and hypnotic tracks – released on labels like ARTS, Rapid Eye Movement, and their own label Flyance - have already garnered support from some of the biggest names in the world today (Ben Klock, DVS1, Antigone, and Luigi Tozzi to name a few), and have seen them grace clubs and festivals around the world; from Tresor, Concrete, and Rex Club, to Sonar Festival, South America, and Georgia’s Khidi.

Archivist
(US / secondnature / BleeD)
INSTASIS is proud to present: Seattle's Archivist. Archivist is a DJ and producer from Seattle and resident of the secondnature collective since 2012. His music fuses colour and space with dense textural rhythm, combining the sounds of secondnature’s insurgent parties in the mountains of Washington State, and industrial warehouse spaces of Seattle. He has performed alongside artists such as Acronym, Aurora Halal, Artefakt, DJ Stingray, and Silent Servant.
Archivist has played an integral role in bringing expansive and innovative electronic music to the Pacific Northwest as a promoter booking and as a producer and DJ.

Having made waves in Melbourne's electronic music scene, touring Cleric, Yan Cook, and Skober recently, building the reputation of their Berlin Calling parties, and making a mark as a talented collective of DJs, promoters, and artists, INSTASIS are proud to present an all night B2B showdown with the Cat House crew. Interchanging in B2B slots, the night promises to perfectly showcase the sound and temprement of both crews, all housed in the beautiful basement that is The Sub Club.

Chiara Kickdrum Invites: DJ Kiti
INSTASIS' are proud to present Chiara Kickdrum who invites DJ Kiti playing a 4 hour b2b set.
Chiara Kickdrum is an artist who prides herself on sound design, rhythm, and functionality. With an education in composition, records on Melbourne labels Temporal Cast and Butter Sessions, an immersive live set that has seen her play at Rainbow Serpent and close down Meredith, and a DJ vernacular that is as adaptable as it is dynamic.
Similarly, DJ Kiti has been a pivotal member of Melbourne's electronic scene and has supported everyone from Dax J to the Presets (not to mention DJ Hell in both Berlin and in Melbourne), and played at every Melbourne club you can think of (as well as many you can't).

Fergus Sweetland Invites: Adrian Bell
INSTASIS' is proud to present Melbourne's Fergus Sweetland who invites Adrian Bell for a 4 hour B2B showdown.
Fergus and Adrian are both prominent wit Melbourne's techno scene. Fergus has released EPs under local labels such as Suckmusic and Controlled Violence, played in Melbourne's iconic venues like Revolver and New Guernica, and manages the expansive podcast series Bomphcast. Adrian founded the prolific Bunker events and touring crew, has played at a multitude of parties nationally - Rainbow Serpent, Earthcore, and Let Them Eat Cake to name a few, internationally in Berlin and Tokyo including the incomparable institution that is Tresor.
